Perfect Fifth

Fall 2020 Plans

Despite the pandemic, Perfect Fifth still has an exciting semester planned! For the official response to Covid-19 by the Student Musical Activities department of Cal Performances, of which Perfect Fifth is a part, see here.

While we won't be able to rehearse or perform traditionally, we will be meeting vitually once a week in order to keep engaging with music and each other. Meetings will be part social gatherings, part early music book club, and part rehearsal discussing repertoire and assembling one or two recordings. The plan is to end this semester better singers, better musicians, and better friends than we started.

Auditions for the semester have closed, but we are always happy to hear from interested singers.

Who We Are

Perfect Fifth is a small student directed a cappella choir taking classically inspired singing to new heights. Specializing in music of the Renaissance, our repertoire ranges from the beginnings of western polyphonic music in the Middle Ages all the way to contemporary art music. Founded in 1978, for three decades Perfect Fifth has put on eclectic and inspired concerts, performing across the Bay Area and collaborating with groups around campus, and will continue to do so for decades to come. For more information, see our About page and feel free to reach out if you would like to hire us or collaborate .
